Nutcase announces Metroride Commuter Helmet 2012

Portland, OR, August 22, 2011 – Inspired by Nutcase fans who love our graphic designs but want the features of a modern lightweight bicycle helmet, Nutcase introduces the Metroride, a streamlined, retro-inspired helmet designed for daily commuting that is equal parts style, comfort and protection.

Available in nine tasty graphic designs including American Dream, Speed Stripe and City Dots, as well as six solid colors including Spartan Blue, Dutch Orange, and Sublime, the new Metroride features the Nutcase magnetic anti-pinch buckle for easy one handed operation, no-twist rope straps and the Nutcase spin dial system for a comfortable fit.

“Road helmet designs have become a little like alien technology or art sculptures,” says Michael Morrow, president, Nutcase, Inc. “Not everyone wants to look like they’re in the tour de france when they are simply on their way to the office, to the store, or even just on a nice ride in the country. The Metroride is all about combining simple, classic design with modern performance features such as our anti-pinch magnetic buckle, removable visor and 360º reflectivity.”

Designed & engineered with double in-mold PC shells over an EPS hard foam liner for shock absorption, the Metroride also comes with moisture wicking soft foam pads and features the Nutcase “Helmet Guy” icon and “I Love My Brain” tagline on the rear.

Nutcase celebrates two 2010 Eurobike Awards

Eurobike Award 2010 for Nutcase! NUTCASE® is celebrating two 2010 EUROBIKE Awards alongside its 2007 Bronze Award for best new product.

NUTCASE® – The award-winning original lifestyle sports helmets from former Nike Creative Michael Morrow and team are innovating again and setting the benchmark for new standards of style, environmental friendliness and safety.

With more than 120 designs produced worldwide and nearly half a dozen new innovations, NUTCASE® has won two Eurobike 2010 Awards.

The award winning products are:

1. NUTCASE Generation 2.0 (gen2) Street Helmet: In 2007 Eurobike awarded Nutcase for its Street Classic collection. Now the Street helmet has evolved to Generation 2.0, called "gen2". 

The gen2 helmets willfeature the patented Fidlock® Snap Buckle, a revolutionary magnetic buckle which can be opened and closed with one hand. It is strong, simple and convenient. Fidlock® safeguards the wearer from possible strangulation since it can be opened with a single turn, even when under high tensile force and gloves are worn. In addition, The system has been verified in numerous certifications. With Fidlock®, NUTCASE® offers a key advantage as the buckle will no longer pinch a child's skin when attempting to lock the helmet in place. 

2. NUTCASE 360: As a genuine multisport company NUTCASE has developed an all-seasons helmet called the Nutcase 360° featuring the ReflexVent© system which offers high visibility material and optimum protection against snow and rain. The helmets has click-in earflaps and a neck warmer for seasonal conversion.

The 360° will developed to have a triple-certification for summer, winter and mountain sport uses. Although not yet in production, the helmet will be developed to meet, for example, European EN CE-1078, EN CE-1077 and EN CE-12492 standards. Further development for US and other markets will follow. 

The 360° concept will mean that customers only need to make simple adjustments to turn a summer helmet used for cycling or rollerblading into a winter sports helmet for skiing or snow-boarding. 

Both the gen2 and 360° product line are being developed for release in 2011-12.
